The board owed the Steelers one, and it paid up: Donovan Jackson, the No. 82 name on the board, sitting there at pick 163 like a gift left on the doorstep.

They robbed the room blind at the table, and it lifts the grade on its own. Leaving interior defensive lineman unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. The Chris Godwin pickup adds a known quantity to a class of unknowns.

The roster is better shaped than it was, with quarterback chief among the fixes.
