Draft Grade — Steelers
Overall B
ValueA+ NeedB TradesB- FutureB-
The Steelers let Ewers fall and pounced. Final grade: B.

Somebody in pick 225 was going to get robbed, and it turned out to be the rest of the league. The Steelers sat still while Quinn Ewers, the No. 92 name on the board, slid all the way to them, then sprinted to the podium. No fireworks, but a solid B.

For all the activity, interior defensive lineman went untouched, which is hard to explain. They left with quarterback solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.

Almost all the early capital went to that side of the ball.

Good work on the whole, with interior defensive lineman the one box left unchecked.

Pick Analysis
Pick21 Rnd1 Ashton Jeanty
In Round 1, Pick 21 they get a featured back, and a steal at that.
Pick52 Rnd2 Jalon Walker
A linebacker of that caliber at slot 52 is the definition of value, full stop. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick83 Rnd3 Tre Harris
They robbed the room for Tre Harris here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick122 Rnd4 Xavier Watts
You do not let a safety like Xavier Watts reach No. 122 and blink. They did not. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick163 Rnd5 Emery Jones Jr.
Steal is underselling it; Emery Jones Jr. at pick 163 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick225 Rnd7 Quinn Ewers
Somehow Quinn Ewers was still sitting there in the 225th overall pick, and they pounced on premier quarterback value. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick231 Rnd7 Quincy Riley
They will replay Quincy Riley at the 231st pick for years; that is how good the value is. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick247 Rnd7 Ja'Corey Brooks
Ja'Corey Brooks in the Round 7 slot is a gift, value that borders on unfair. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
