Draft Grade — Browns
Overall

FutureB-
Best value of the weekend goes to the Browns for Smith-Wade: B. Thirty-one other rooms let Chau Smith-Wade slide, and the Browns were the ones holding the card at slot 205. Highway robbery. A sturdy weekend that grades out a B.
They punted on quarterback, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. Wide receiver was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job. Value over need was the throughline, for better and worse.
A fair-value weekend of trading, no edge to be found.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but quarterback.
Pick Analysis
Pick54
Rnd2
Xavier Worthy
No drama and no debate, Xavier Worthy went about where he belonged in Round 2, Pick 22. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick101
Rnd4
Leonard Taylor III
They took Leonard Taylor III at par in pick 101, which is nothing to complain about. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick103
Rnd4
MarShawn Lloyd
They paid sticker price for MarShawn Lloyd in the Round 4 slot, and that is fine. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick135
Rnd4
Javon Foster
Javon Foster slid further than he should have, and the 135th pick is lovely value for the offensive lineman. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick155
Rnd5
Tommy Eichenberg
Tommy Eichenberg is a better player than slot 155 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick205
Rnd6
Chau Smith-Wade
They will replay Chau Smith-Wade at pick No. 205 for years; that is how good the value is. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick208
Rnd6
Jared Wiley
A quiet steal in the 208th overall pick: Jared Wiley for less than the market said. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick228
Rnd7
Josh Proctor
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Josh Proctor in No. 228. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
