Draft Grade — Lions
Overall B
ValueB NeedA- TradesB+ FutureB-
Coleman should have been long gone. The Lions pounced, and earned a B.

Somebody in pick 65 was going to get robbed, and it turned out to be the rest of the league. The Lions sat still while Keon Coleman, the No. 36 name on the board, slid all the way to them, then sprinted to the podium. A dependable weekend that grades out a B.

The Raym reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade. The safety hole is the one line item this class does not answer.

A modest surplus at the table, banked quietly. Cornerback is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.

Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.

Pick Analysis
Pick29 Rnd1 Nate Wiggins
In Round 1, Pick 29 they get an island corner, and a steal at that. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick65 Rnd3 Keon Coleman
You do not let a wide receiver like Keon Coleman reach the 65th pick and blink. They did not. It fills a real need, too.
Pick73 Rnd3 Kris Abrams-Draine
Kris Abrams-Draine at pick 73 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick92 Rnd3 Zak Zinter
A reach on Zak Zinter in the Round 3 slot; the board had better options right there. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick163 Rnd5 Jarrian Jones
Jarrian Jones at No. 163 is money in the bank, a cornerback taken below his worth. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick207 Rnd6 Andrew Raym
They reached a country mile for Andrew Raym at pick No. 207, and the board is aghast. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick247 Rnd7 Eyabi Okie-Anoma
They left a pile of value on the table to take Eyabi Okie-Anoma this early at the 247th overall pick. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
