Draft Grade — Dolphins
Overall B-
ValueB+ NeedB TradesC- FutureB
Best value of the weekend goes to the Dolphins for Thieneman: B-.

Call it larceny. Dillon Thieneman sat on the board until No. 87, and the Dolphins did not need to be asked twice.

They will regret leaving quarterback for another day if the season turns on it. With quarterback, interior defensive lineman and other spots unsolved, spending premium capital on cornerback is the choice that costs them. They were the ones paying the moving tax this weekend.

Wide receiver was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.

In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the quarterback spot they never got to.

Pick Analysis
Pick22 Rnd1 Avieon Terrell
In the Round 1 slot they get a sticky cover corner. More want than need.
Pick30 Rnd1 Kenyon Sadiq
In slot 30 they get a security blanket over the middle, and a steal at that. A real need, handled.
Pick43 Rnd2 R Mason Thomas
A slide stopped in pick 43, with R Mason Thomas worth more than the price. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick75 Rnd3 Omar Cooper Jr.
They barely believed it either: Omar Cooper Jr. still on the board at No. 75. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick87 Rnd3 Dillon Thieneman
They will replay Dillon Thieneman at pick No. 87 for years; that is how good the value is. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick89 Rnd3 Jake Slaughter
A top-tier offensive lineman at a bargain, Jake Slaughter in Round 3, Pick 25, plain and simple. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick90 Rnd3 Antonio Williams
The board fumbled Antonio Williams all the way to the 90th overall pick, and they scooped it up. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick94 Rnd3 Max Klare
A quiet steal in the 94th pick: Max Klare for less than the market said. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick123 Rnd4 Billy Schrauth
Billy Schrauth in the Round 4 slot is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick129 Rnd4 Taurean York
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Taurean York in pick 129. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick130 Rnd4 Will Lee III
Of all the spots to shop, they chose cornerback. Will Lee III in the 130th overall pick leaves quarterback, interior defensive lineman and other spots for later.
Pick151 Rnd5 Isaiah World
A clean, defensible pick in No. 151 with a little surplus value in Isaiah World. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick227 Rnd7 TJ Hall
They read the board right and TJ Hall was the payoff at Round 7, Pick 11. It is more luxury than necessity; they were already set here.
