Draft Grade — Bengals
Overall B+
ValueB- NeedB TradesA+ FutureB-
The Bengals let Devonshire fall into their laps, and walked away with a B+.

The trade table was a mismatch, and the Bengals were on the right end of it, hauling in a fortune in surplus value. It nets out to a B+, which feels about right.

Every board in the league had Jackson lower, and that gap is the story. They banked enough surplus on Devonshire to cover a lot of smaller sins. That quarterback hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.

A tidy weekend of work that should hold up just fine.

Pick Analysis
Pick25 Rnd1 Amarius Mims
In slot 25 they get a building block for the line. A real need, handled.
Pick49 Rnd2 Cooper Beebe
Cooper Beebe at the Round 2 slot is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick58 Rnd2 Payton Wilson
A straight-up fair deal on Payton Wilson at the 58th overall pick, value and slot in agreement. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick80 Rnd3 Max Melton
Nothing to complain about; Max Melton went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick97 Rnd3 McKinnley Jackson
They talked themselves into McKinnley Jackson at Round 3, Pick 34, and the board did not agree. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick115 Rnd4 Blake Fisher
No edge and no loss on Blake Fisher in pick No. 115; it is a wash and a sensible one. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick149 Rnd5 Dallin Holker
Dallin Holker in pick 149 is fair value, right on his grade. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick194 Rnd6 Marcus Rosemy-Jacksaint
Marcus Rosemy-Jacksaint at the 194th overall pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick214 Rnd6 Frank Gore Jr.
They liked Frank Gore Jr. enough to skip the value, taking him in Round 6, Pick 39. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick219 Rnd6 M.J. Devonshire
They robbed the room for M.J. Devonshire here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick224 Rnd7 Garret Greenfield
A tidy bit of business in No. 224, where Garret Greenfield graded well above the range. It fills a real need, too.
Pick237 Rnd7 Jalen Coker
Jalen Coker at pick No. 237 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick238 Rnd7 Miyan Williams
A reach on Miyan Williams in the Round 7 slot; the board had better options right there. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
