FutureB-
A solid, sensible weekend for the Vikings: B. There is a lot to like until you notice quarterback is still a hole. The Vikings never got to the one that mattered most.
Getting Downs where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class. They left with safety solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off. The back end got a real overhaul.
In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.
Pick Analysis
Pick11
Rnd1
Caleb Downs
In pick 11 they get a two-high chess piece, outstanding value to boot. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick42
Rnd2
Sonny Styles
By-the-book stuff, Sonny Styles at No. 42 squarely in line with his ranking. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick73
Rnd3
A.J. Harris
Good price on A.J. Harris in the 73rd pick, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick97
Rnd3
Nicholas Singleton
Nicholas Singleton at the 97th overall pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick161
Rnd5
Jacob Rodriguez
A straight-up fair deal on Jacob Rodriguez at Round 5, Pick 21, value and slot in agreement. Stacking talent where they were already deep.
