Mr Maauto DRAFTING FOR THEChiefs
Draft Selections
Draft Grade — Chiefs
Overall
B-
ValueC
NeedB
TradesB-
FutureB-
No fireworks, just a tidy B- for the Chiefs. The Keilan Robinson pick is the one that will follow the Chiefs into the fall. They took him 94 spots ahead of his grade, and the board is not shy about saying so. The bottom line is a respectable B-.
It is not that Stover is a bad player; it is that the Chiefs had louder needs to answer first. They will regret leaving tight end for another day if the season turns on it.
Wide receiver was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.
A tidy weekend of work that should hold up just fine.
Pick Analysis
Pick31
Rnd1
Xavier Legette
In pick No. 31 they get a home-run threat at receiver. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick63
Rnd2
T'Vondre Sweat
T'Vondre Sweat at the 63rd pick is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick94
Rnd3
Cade Stover
Hard to square with the roster. With positions of obvious need still on the board, Cade Stover adds a TE-EDGE and leaves tight end and quarterback untouched.
Pick131
Rnd4
Kamal Hadden
They took Kamal Hadden at par in No. 131, which is nothing to complain about. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick161
Rnd5
Brennan Jackson
Brennan Jackson at the 161st overall pick jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick171
Rnd5
Jordan Jefferson
The board had cheaper options than Jordan Jefferson at Round 5, Pick 35, and it noticed. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick175
Rnd5
Michael Barrett
A premium they did not need to pay, Michael Barrett a notch or two before his time. The roster fit checks out.
Pick209
Rnd6
Walter Rouse
A wild overpay on Walter Rouse in slot 209, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick252
Rnd7
Keilan Robinson
Keilan Robinson in the 252nd overall pick is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
