Arron Rodgers DRAFTING FOR THEChiefs

Draft Grade — Chiefs

The Chiefs did the meat-and-potatoes work well: B-. The Chiefs put a flag in the ground for Billy Bowman Jr., 100 picks before anyone else would have, and the value took the hit. It does the job without flash, and the B- reflects it.
For all the activity, tight end went untouched, which is hard to explain. The Hopper steal is the beam this whole class leans on. Wide receiver is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.
A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.
Pick Analysis
Pick31
Rnd1
Troy Franklin
In the Round 1 slot they get a No. 1 receiver at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick63
Rnd2
Trey Benson
Trey Benson in No. 63 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick94
Rnd3
Amarius Mims
Amarius Mims is a better player than pick No. 94 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick131
Rnd4
Darius Robinson
A conviction pick on Darius Robinson at pick 131 that the board grades a round light. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick163
Rnd5
Ty'Ron Hopper
Ty'Ron Hopper in the 163rd pick is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick174
Rnd5
Ajani Cornelius
Ajani Cornelius at slot 174 jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick175
Rnd5
Jalon Daniels
A big swing on Jalon Daniels at the Round 5 slot, well ahead of any board in the building. It fills a real need, too.
Pick209
Rnd6
Tre Harris
Tre Harris at Round 6, Pick 34 is money in the bank, a wide receiver taken below his worth. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick247
Rnd7
Billy Bowman Jr.
Billy Bowman Jr. in pick 247 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. A fine player at a spot low on the priority list.
Pick252
Rnd7
Zakhari Franklin
They reached into another round for Zakhari Franklin, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
