Draft Grade — Chiefs
Overall B-
ValueC- NeedB+ TradesB- FutureB-
The Chiefs checked most of the boxes and earned a B-.

The move everyone will second-guess came early. The Chiefs reached some 85 spots for Keilan Robinson, and value like that does not grow back. A dependable weekend that grades out a B-.

That quarterback hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. Wide receiver was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.

Almost all the early capital went to that side of the ball.

Not a headline-grabber, but a perfectly good weekend's work.

Pick Analysis
Pick28 Rnd1 Troy Franklin
In pick No. 28 they get a weapon on the perimeter. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick60 Rnd2 Payton Wilson
Payton Wilson at No. 60 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick91 Rnd3 Khyree Jackson
They went early on Khyree Jackson in the Round 3 slot, and the value did not follow. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick128 Rnd4 Theo Johnson
Theo Johnson at pick 128 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick161 Rnd5 Christian Jones
Christian Jones in the 161st pick is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick171 Rnd5 Matthew Jones
Matthew Jones at Round 5, Pick 35 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick175 Rnd5 Walter Rouse
A big swing on Walter Rouse at pick 175, well ahead of any board in the building. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick206 Rnd6 Dwight McGlothern
They reached into another round for Dwight McGlothern, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. A want dressed up as a pick, at a spot they had covered.
Pick249 Rnd7 Keilan Robinson
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Keilan Robinson well ahead of where he belonged. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
