Buck Rogers DRAFTING FOR THEChiefs
Draft Selections
Draft Grade — Chiefs
Overall

FutureB-
The Chiefs checked most of the boxes and earned a B-. The Chiefs torched the value chart for Walter Rouse, taking him 51 spots sooner than anyone had him slotted. A sturdy weekend that grades out a B-.
That tight end hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. However the rest shakes out, Wilson at that price is a win they earned.
On the needs board they went 6 of 8, with wide receiver the one that mattered most. Nearly every premium pick went to that side of the ball.
In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.
Pick Analysis
Pick29
Rnd1
Tyler Nubin
In the 29th overall pick they get a two-high chess piece. More want than need.
Pick61
Rnd2
T'Vondre Sweat
By-the-book stuff, T'Vondre Sweat at pick 61 squarely in line with his ranking. It fills a real need, too.
Pick92
Rnd3
Roman Wilson
Roman Wilson is a better player than No. 92 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick129
Rnd4
Jaylen Wright
A real head-scratcher, Jaylen Wright in the Round 4 slot is miles ahead of his ranking. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick161
Rnd5
Brennan Jackson
A premium they did not need to pay, Brennan Jackson a notch or two before his time. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick171
Rnd5
Christian Jones
Christian Jones at Round 5, Pick 35 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick175
Rnd5
Michael Barrett
They went early on Michael Barrett in pick No. 175, and the value did not follow. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick207
Rnd6
Walter Rouse
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Walter Rouse well ahead of where he belonged. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick250
Rnd7
Dwight McGlothern
A market-rate cornerback, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Dwight McGlothern. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
