Draft Grade — Titans
Overall
A-
ValueB
NeedB+
TradesA+
FutureB+
The steal of the weekend belongs to the Titans and McClellan: A-. The board owed the Titans one, and it paid up: Jase McClellan, the No. 197 name on the board, sitting there at pick 228 like a gift left on the doorstep. Very little went wrong, and the A- is earned.
Every deal seemed to tilt their way, which is not luck. They punted on edge rusher, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest.
Every board in the league had Colson lower, and that gap is the story.
Bottom line, with JC Latham leading the way, this is a class that should pay off fast and rarely be regretted.
Pick Analysis
Pick18
Rnd1
JC Latham
In slot 18 they get a cornerstone up front. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick38
Rnd2
Troy Franklin
Fair-plus on Troy Franklin, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. The roster fit checks out.
Pick49
Rnd2
Xavier Worthy
A tidy little value on Xavier Worthy in pick 49, a step better than break-even. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick80
Rnd3
Kingsley Suamataia
You do not let an offensive lineman like Kingsley Suamataia reach the 80th pick and blink. They did not. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick106
Rnd4
Junior Colson
They liked Junior Colson enough to skip the value, taking him in No. 106. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick144
Rnd5
Khyree Jackson
They barely believed it either: Khyree Jackson still on the board at the Round 5 slot. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick184
Rnd6
Sam Hartman
A clean, defensible pick in pick No. 184 with a little surplus value in Sam Hartman. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick228
Rnd7
Jase McClellan
Jase McClellan in the 228th overall pick should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
