You could see the war room lean forward. Patrick Paul at No. 92 is the sort of fall that does not happen, except it just did.

They will need Barner to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it. A whole weekend of picks and safety is somehow still a want.

The roster is better shaped than it was, with cornerback chief among the fixes. The weekend tilted hard toward the defense.

A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.
