Draft Grade — Jets
Overall C+
ValueB NeedB TradesF FutureB-
The Jets got the worse of every deal, and it shows in the C+.

Somewhere a scout is still blinking. The Jets spent Round 6, Pick 18 on Will Howard, a name the board had a full 59 spots lower. A weekend of give and take that grades a C+.

That is a linebacker worth more than the slot they spent on him, plainly. They handed away value on the phones that the picks cannot earn back. For all the activity, edge rusher went untouched, which is hard to explain.

Call it incomplete, and check back in a couple of seasons.

Pick Analysis
Pick8 Rnd1 Mason Graham
In slot 8 they get a run-stuffing presence up front. A real need, handled.
Pick64 Rnd2 Harold Fannin Jr.
Harold Fannin Jr. at the 64th pick is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick68 Rnd3 Xavier Watts
Circle this one: Xavier Watts at pick 68 is a fall that decides a draft. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick96 Rnd3 Hollin Pierce
Hollin Pierce in No. 96 is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. The roster fit checks out.
Pick110 Rnd4 Maxwell Hairston
The board had Maxwell Hairston higher than pick No. 110, and the cornerback fell to them anyway. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick145 Rnd5 Smael Mondon Jr.
Taking Smael Mondon Jr. in the 145th overall pick is close to grand larceny; a linebacker that good had no business lasting this long. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick193 Rnd6 Will Howard
Will Howard in pick 193 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick207 Rnd6 Theo Wease Jr.
Theo Wease Jr. at the 207th overall pick is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the wide receiver. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick219 Rnd7 Shilo Sanders
Shilo Sanders at slot 219 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
