The Cardinals did the meat-and-potatoes work well: B-. Somehow the biggest item on the list survived the weekend. The Cardinals never addressed quarterback, and it is the kind of gap that lingers. More right than wrong, and a B- to match.
That Newton pick is the receipt they will wave around later. The roster is better shaped than it was, with wide receiver chief among the fixes. They gave back a little on the phones for the right to move.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the quarterback spot they never got to.
Pick Analysis
Pick4
Rnd1
Marvin Harrison Jr.
In the 4th overall pick they get a go-to option on the outside at fair value. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick27
Rnd1
Jer'Zhan Newton
In Round 1, Pick 27 they get a load in the middle, and a steal at that. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick35
Rnd2
Nate Wiggins
Nate Wiggins at No. 35 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick71
Rnd3
Javon Baker
They paid sticker price for Javon Baker in slot 71, and that is fine. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
