Draft Grade — Raiders
Overall B-
ValueB- NeedB TradesD+ FutureA
A sensible, unshowy class lands the Raiders a B-.

The Raiders went off the board in a big way for Alex Harkey, 102 picks early. Conviction is one thing; this is another.

However the rest shakes out, Price at that price is a win they earned. The Clark pick is fine in a vacuum, less so with tight end still on the board.

They will regret leaving tight end for another day if the season turns on it.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but tight end.

Pick Analysis
Pick23 Rnd1 Sonny Styles
In the 23rd overall pick they get the heartbeat of the defense. More want than need.
Pick29 Rnd1 Colton Hood
In the Round 1 slot they get a sticky cover corner at fair value. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick36 Rnd2 Dillon Thieneman
They took Dillon Thieneman at par in No. 36, which is nothing to complain about. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick40 Rnd2 Max Iheanachor
They paid sticker price for Max Iheanachor in pick No. 40, and that is fine. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick54 Rnd2 Lee Hunter
Fair-plus on Lee Hunter, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. It fills a real need, too.
Pick67 Rnd3 Dani Dennis-Sutton
They paid a round early for Dani Dennis-Sutton in Round 3, Pick 3, more than the board wanted. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick74 Rnd3 Keionte Scott
A tidy bit of business in Round 3, Pick 10, where Keionte Scott graded well above the range. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick98 Rnd3 Malachi Fields
Malachi Fields in the 98th pick should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick102 Rnd4 Jadarian Price
The board fumbled Jadarian Price all the way to the 102nd overall pick, and they scooped it up. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick109 Rnd4 Bud Clark
They zigged when the board said zag, taking Bud Clark at safety with tight end open.
Pick117 Rnd4 Drew Allar
This one needs a full-page explanation: Drew Allar in slot 117, miles early. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick134 Rnd4 Keagen Trost
A big swing on Keagen Trost at pick 134, well ahead of any board in the building. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick175 Rnd5 Kaleb Elarms-Orr
No edge and no loss on Kaleb Elarms-Orr in No. 175; it is a wash and a sensible one. Pure best-available; the position was not exactly begging.
Pick182 Rnd6 Josh Cameron
A market-rate wide receiver, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Josh Cameron. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick185 Rnd6 Pat Coogan
They jumped the gun on Pat Coogan, taking him earlier than his grade liked. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick208 Rnd6 Sawyer Robertson
A clean, defensible pick in No. 208 with a little surplus value in Sawyer Robertson. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick219 Rnd7 Alex Harkey
Alex Harkey at the 219th overall pick is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
