LuckyGM777 DRAFTING FOR THEBears

Draft Grade — Bears
Overall

FutureB
The Bears finally solved quarterback, and it carried them to a B+. They finally answered the question that shadows every other one. Caleb Williams is the Bears' quarterback, full stop.
That James pick is the receipt they will wave around later. The Keegan pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over. The phones were where this weekend was really won.
That interior defensive lineman hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but interior defensive lineman.
Pick Analysis
Pick1
Rnd1
Caleb Williams
Caleb Williams at pick No. 1 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick15
Rnd1
Brock Bowers
In the Round 1 slot they get a matchup weapon at tight end, outstanding value to boot.
Pick19
Rnd1
Jackson Powers-Johnson
In the 19th pick they get a blindside protector, though the board says they badly overpaid. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick45
Rnd2
Chris Braswell
A premium they did not need to pay, Chris Braswell a notch or two before his time. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick46
Rnd2
Tyler Nubin
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Tyler Nubin at No. 46. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick51
Rnd2
Cooper Beebe
They talked themselves into Cooper Beebe at pick 51, and the board did not agree. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick75
Rnd3
Brenden Rice
A clean, defensible pick in the 75th overall pick with a little surplus value in Brenden Rice. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick110
Rnd4
Luke McCaffrey
They reached a country mile for Luke McCaffrey at Round 4, Pick 10, and the board is aghast. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick122
Rnd4
D.J. James
A cornerback of that caliber at pick 122 is the definition of value, full stop. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick146
Rnd5
James Williams
Value with a capital V on James Williams in the 146th pick, a genuine coup. Stacking talent where they were already deep.
Pick197
Rnd6
Trevor Keegan
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Trevor Keegan well ahead of where he belonged. The roster fit checks out.
