Somebody in Round 5, Pick 14 was going to get robbed, and it turned out to be the rest of the league. The Cowboys sat still while Nico Iamaleava, the No. 114 name on the board, slid all the way to them, then sprinted to the podium. It nets out to a B-, which feels about right.

The Cowboys indulged a want in Taaffe while a need in cornerback, running back and other spots stayed open. For all the activity, cornerback went untouched, which is hard to explain.

On the needs board they went 4 of 8, with wide receiver the one that mattered most. The weekend tilted hard toward the defense.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but cornerback.
