FutureA-
The Bears left with their quarterback, and a D to match. Somebody took the Bears to the cleaners. The deals they made bled real value, and the whole class wears it. Put together, it is a D.
Jayden Daniels gives the offense a face and a plan, and the grade leans heavily on whether he hits. Leaving interior defensive lineman unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. They are betting Laube proves the room right and everyone else wrong.
Bottom line, they will need several of these picks to beat their grades just to break even, and interior defensive lineman is still a hole.
Pick Analysis
Pick4
Rnd1
Jayden Daniels
In pick No. 4 they get their guy under center for the next decade at fair value.
Pick5
Rnd1
Malik Nabers
In No. 5 they get a home-run threat at receiver. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick28
Rnd1
Chop Robinson
In the 28th pick they get a premier pass rusher. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick72
Rnd3
Zach Frazier
They let Zach Frazier come to them and pounced at pick 72. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick90
Rnd3
Dominick Puni
Dominick Puni at the Round 3 slot is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick120
Rnd4
Cedric Gray
Cedric Gray at slot 120 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick123
Rnd4
Jarvis Brownlee Jr.
Value with a capital V on Jarvis Brownlee Jr. in Round 4, Pick 23, a genuine coup. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick143
Rnd5
Dylan Laube
A reach for Dylan Laube in the 143rd overall pick; a little patience would have been rewarded. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick238
Rnd7
Keaton Bills
Fair-plus on Keaton Bills, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
