Draft Grade — Bears
Overall B-
ValueB NeedB TradesF FutureA+
Larceny in pick 41 lands the Bears a B-, Robinson and all.

Call it larceny. Chop Robinson sat on the board until No. 41, and the Bears did not need to be asked twice. The bottom line is a respectable B-.

The trade table is where this weekend went wrong. The cost of the Jefferson reach is exactly the players who went right after him. They punted on running back, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest.

The hoard sets up next April more than it helps this September.

Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.

Pick Analysis
Pick4 Rnd1 Joe Alt
Joe Alt at the Round 1 slot is right where the board had him, plain and simple. The roster fit checks out.
Pick9 Rnd1 Rome Odunze
In the 9th pick they get a go-to option on the outside. A real need, handled.
Pick41 Rnd2 Chop Robinson
A top-tier edge rusher at a bargain, Chop Robinson in pick No. 41, plain and simple. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick52 Rnd2 Nate Wiggins
Nate Wiggins slipping to No. 52 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick73 Rnd3 Rod Moore
They paid a round early for Rod Moore in slot 73, more than the board wanted. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick104 Rnd4 Zach Frazier
Zach Frazier at pick 104 is money in the bank, a offensive lineman taken below his worth. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick132 Rnd4 Jordan Travis
They liked Jordan Travis enough to skip the value, taking him in the 132nd overall pick. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick141 Rnd5 Brenden Rice
The board fumbled Brenden Rice all the way to Round 5, Pick 5, and they scooped it up. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick182 Rnd6 Jaylan Ford
The board had Jaylan Ford higher than the Round 6 slot, and the linebacker fell to them anyway. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick225 Rnd7 Jordan Jefferson
They talked themselves into Jordan Jefferson at Round 7, Pick 5, and the board did not agree. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
