jj3325 DRAFTING FOR THEPackers
Draft Selections
Draft Grade — Packers
Overall
B-
ValueB
NeedB
TradesB-
FutureB-
The Packers cashed the board's mistake on Liufau: B-. The value of the weekend has a name and a slot: Marist Liufau, the 135th overall pick, roughly 49 picks past where he belonged. It does the job without flash, and the B- reflects it.
The McGlothern reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade. That quarterback hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.
Bottom line, more hits than misses and a roster nudged the right way.
Pick Analysis
Pick25
Rnd1
Taliese Fuaga
In the Round 1 slot they get an anchor for the offensive line, outstanding value to boot.
Pick41
Rnd2
Kris Jenkins
Kris Jenkins at No. 41 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick57
Rnd2
Calen Bullock
Nice patience on Calen Bullock, who had no business lasting to Round 2, Pick 25. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick88
Rnd3
Bucky Irving
They paid sticker price for Bucky Irving in pick 88, and that is fine. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick91
Rnd3
Darius Robinson
They reached a country mile for Darius Robinson at slot 91, and the board is aghast. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick125
Rnd4
Mike Sainristil
You do not let a cornerback like Mike Sainristil reach the 125th overall pick and blink. They did not. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick135
Rnd4
Marist Liufau
Steal is underselling it; Marist Liufau at pick No. 135 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick203
Rnd6
Kitan Oladapo
Somehow Kitan Oladapo was still sitting there in the 203rd pick, and they pounced on premier safety value. Insurance at a position that did not really ask for it.
Pick217
Rnd6
Gabe Hall
Gabe Hall slid further than he should have, and slot 217 is lovely value for the interior defensive lineman. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick219
Rnd6
Dwight McGlothern
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Dwight McGlothern well ahead of where he belonged. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick246
Rnd7
Eric Gentry
No edge and no loss on Eric Gentry in No. 246; it is a wash and a sensible one. Pure best-available; the position was not exactly begging.
