Draft Grade — Bears
Overall

FutureB-
A franchise passer in Williams headlines a D- weekend for the Bears. Every swap seemed to tilt away from the Bears, and the value they bled adds up to real damage. The process wobbled, and the D- is where it lands.
So much rides on Caleb Williams that the rest of the class almost grades on a curve behind him. They punted on interior defensive lineman, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. Reaching for Haynesworth left real value on the table behind him.
The Sainristil pick alone nudges the whole weekend up a notch.
Add it up and it is a weekend the front office will hope everyone forgets, interior defensive lineman very much included.
Pick Analysis
Pick1
Rnd1
Caleb Williams
In pick No. 1 they get the face of the franchise. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick9
Rnd1
Rome Odunze
They took Rome Odunze at par in slot 9, which is nothing to complain about. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick43
Rnd2
Tyler Guyton
A tidy little value on Tyler Guyton in the 43rd overall pick, a step better than break-even. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick75
Rnd3
Brenden Rice
Brenden Rice in the 75th pick is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick109
Rnd4
Mike Sainristil
Mike Sainristil in the Round 4 slot is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick110
Rnd4
Mohamed Kamara
Mohamed Kamara in pick 110 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick122
Rnd4
Jacob Cowing
A top-tier wide receiver at a bargain, Jacob Cowing in No. 122, plain and simple. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick146
Rnd5
Sincere Haynesworth
They went early on Sincere Haynesworth in Round 5, Pick 10, and the value did not follow. It fills a real need, too.
Pick189
Rnd6
Zion Tupuola-Fetui
Zion Tupuola-Fetui at the 189th pick is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
