The Bears lost the trade war and it was not close, handing partners the better end again and again. The board pushed back all weekend, and the D- is the result.

They have staked the next five years on Jayden Daniels, which is the only story that really matters here. For all the activity, interior defensive lineman went untouched, which is hard to explain. That is an offensive lineman worth more than the slot they spent on him, plainly.

It is a steep hill from here, and the grade knows it.
