2024 DRAFTING FOR THECardinals
Draft Selections
Draft Grade — Cardinals
Overall

ValueB

FutureB-
Nothing loud, just a tidy B- for the Cardinals. The move everyone will second-guess came early. The Cardinals reached some 35 spots for J.Michael Sturdivant, and value like that does not grow back. No fireworks, but a solid B-.
They will regret leaving quarterback for another day if the season turns on it. Whatever else happened, they won the night they took Slaughter. Wide receiver is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.
Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.
Pick Analysis
Pick17
Rnd1
Jermod McCoy
In pick 17 they get a press-man option on the boundary. More want than need.
Pick49
Rnd2
Jake Slaughter
Circle this one: Jake Slaughter at the 49th pick is a fall that decides a draft. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick81
Rnd3
Ja'Kobi Lane
The board had Ja'Kobi Lane higher than the 81st overall pick, and the wide receiver fell to them anyway. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick117
Rnd4
Austin Romaine
They went early on Austin Romaine in the Round 4 slot, and the value did not follow. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick156
Rnd5
Duce Robinson
Duce Robinson in slot 156 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick195
Rnd6
J.Michael Sturdivant
J.Michael Sturdivant at Round 6, Pick 19 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick230
Rnd7
Hykeem Williams
Hykeem Williams at pick No. 230 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
