FutureB-
The Packers cashed the board's mistake on Kinchens: B+. You build a draft on nights like this. Kamren Kinchens had no business being available in pick 55, and the Packers did the only sane thing and turned in the card.
The dealing alone would carry a lesser class. With tight end unsolved, spending premium capital on safety is the choice that costs them. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped tight end, which is a strange place to end up.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the tight end spot they never got to.
Pick Analysis
Pick25
Rnd1
Dallas Turner
In pick 25 they get a quarterback's worst nightmare, outstanding value to boot. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick55
Rnd2
Kamren Kinchens
The board fumbled Kamren Kinchens all the way to the 55th overall pick, and they scooped it up. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick58
Rnd2
Jackson Powers-Johnson
They took Jackson Powers-Johnson at par in pick No. 58, which is nothing to complain about. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick86
Rnd3
Christian Haynes
Christian Haynes in No. 86 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick88
Rnd3
Michael Hall Jr.
Good price on Michael Hall Jr. in the Round 3 slot, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick97
Rnd3
Christian Mahogany
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Christian Mahogany at the 97th pick is the proof. It fills a real need, too.
Pick108
Rnd4
Audric Estime
A clean, defensible pick in Round 4, Pick 8 with a little surplus value in Audric Estime. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick125
Rnd4
Cedric Gray
Cedric Gray at slot 125 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the linebacker. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick126
Rnd4
Cam Hart
No drama and no debate, Cam Hart went about where he belonged in pick No. 126. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick135
Rnd4
Jahdae Barron
Hard to square with the roster. With positions of obvious need still on the board, Jahdae Barron adds a safety and leaves tight end untouched.
Pick138
Rnd5
Sataoa Laumea
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Sataoa Laumea at the 138th overall pick. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick156
Rnd5
Darius Robinson
Darius Robinson in the 156th pick is exactly on the number, no argument either way. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick160
Rnd5
Jordan Travis
Jordan Travis at Round 5, Pick 24 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick163
Rnd5
Ainias Smith
They did well to land Ainias Smith in pick 163, just ahead of his grade. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick164
Rnd5
Layden Robinson
A tidy little value on Layden Robinson in the Round 5 slot, a step better than break-even. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick203
Rnd6
Zion Tupuola-Fetui
Zion Tupuola-Fetui at slot 203 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick217
Rnd6
Sheridan Jones
Sheridan Jones in slot 217 lands just on the right side of the ledger. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick219
Rnd6
Dwight McGlothern
By-the-book stuff, Dwight McGlothern at pick 219 squarely in line with his ranking. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick246
Rnd7
Carson Steele
No edge and no loss on Carson Steele in pick No. 246; it is a wash and a sensible one. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
