Draft Grade — Patriots
Overall D+
ValueB- NeedB TradesF FutureC+
The Patriots lost the trade table, and the D+ tells the story.

There was a run on nobody at that position, and the Patriots started one anyway for Malik Verdon, 101 picks ahead of schedule. The board pushed back all weekend, and the D+ is the result.

They lost the exchange badly enough to drag the whole class down. They punted on edge rusher, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. Getting Egbuka where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class.

Bottom line, they will need several of these picks to beat their grades just to break even, and edge rusher is still a hole.

Pick Analysis
Pick7 Rnd1 Will Campbell
In No. 7 they get a plug-and-play piece up front. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick37 Rnd2 Emeka Egbuka
Emeka Egbuka slid further than he should have, and pick No. 37 is lovely value for the wide receiver. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick38 Rnd2 Derrick Harmon
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Derrick Harmon in slot 38. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick42 Rnd2 Jihaad Campbell
Jihaad Campbell at the 42nd overall pick nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick217 Rnd7 Phil Mafah
No drama and no debate, Phil Mafah went about where he belonged in the Round 7 slot. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick220 Rnd7 Malik Verdon
A wild overpay on Malik Verdon in the 220th pick, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick238 Rnd7 Drew Kendall
Value said wait; Drew Kendall in pick 238 says they were not listening. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
