Draft Grade — Raiders
Overall B-

The Raiders drew a line under the quarterback search with Mendoza: B-.

You could see the war room lean forward. A.J. Haulcy at Round 4, Pick 34 is the sort of fall that does not happen, except it just did. Call it a sensible B-, earned the boring way.

Fernando Mendoza is the bet, and the class will be judged on how it pays off. Reaching for Iheanachor left real value on the table behind him.

A whole weekend of picks and edge rusher is somehow still a want. Cornerback is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.

Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.

Pick Analysis
Pick1 Rnd1 Fernando Mendoza
In the 1st overall pick they get a franchise quarterback. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick36 Rnd2 Spencer Fano
Spencer Fano at No. 36 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick67 Rnd3 Arvell Reese
Somehow Arvell Reese was still sitting there in Round 3, Pick 3, and they pounced on premier linebacker value. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick102 Rnd4 Chase Bisontis
Chase Bisontis at pick No. 102 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick117 Rnd4 Max Iheanachor
This one needs a full-page explanation: Max Iheanachor in the 117th overall pick, miles early. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick134 Rnd4 A.J. Haulcy
A.J. Haulcy in pick 134 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick174 Rnd5 Davison Igbinosun
Davison Igbinosun at slot 174 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick182 Rnd6 Trinidad Chambliss
By-the-book stuff, Trinidad Chambliss at the 182nd pick squarely in line with his ranking. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick185 Rnd6 CJ Daniels
CJ Daniels at No. 185 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick219 Rnd7 Ted Hurst
A top-tier wide receiver at a bargain, Ted Hurst in the Round 7 slot, plain and simple. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
