Draft Grade — Raiders
Overall B+
ValueB- NeedB TradesA+ FutureB-
The Raiders drew a line under the quarterback search with Mendoza: B+.

They finally answered the question that shadows every other one. Fernando Mendoza is the Raiders' quarterback, full stop.

Every board in the league had Miller lower, and that gap is the story. They banked enough surplus on Lew to cover a lot of smaller sins. The phones were where this weekend was really won.

They covered a lot of ground and still skipped edge rusher, which is a strange place to end up.

Good work on the whole, with edge rusher the one box left unchecked.

Pick Analysis
Pick2 Rnd1 Fernando Mendoza
They paid sticker price for Fernando Mendoza in the Round 1 slot, and that is fine. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick16 Rnd1 Spencer Fano
In the 16th overall pick they get protection for the quarterback. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick36 Rnd2 Kadyn Proctor
They let Kadyn Proctor come to them and pounced at Round 2, Pick 4. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick67 Rnd3 Blake Miller
Blake Miller in the 67th pick is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick102 Rnd4 Connor Lew
A offensive lineman of that caliber at pick 102 is the definition of value, full stop. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick117 Rnd4 Chase Bisontis
They took Chase Bisontis at par in pick No. 117, which is nothing to complain about. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick135 Rnd4 Max Iheanachor
The board had cheaper options than Max Iheanachor at slot 135, and it noticed. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick176 Rnd5 Brenen Thompson
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Brenen Thompson at No. 176 is the proof. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick181 Rnd6 De'Zhaun Stribling
They left a pile of value on the table to take De'Zhaun Stribling this early at Round 6, Pick 1. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick184 Rnd6 Jermaine Mathews Jr.
Jermaine Mathews Jr. at the Round 6 slot is money in the bank, a cornerback taken below his worth. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick219 Rnd7 Lander Barton
Lander Barton at the 219th pick is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
