Somewhere a general manager is explaining how Ryan Fitzgerald got past him. The 49ers do not have to explain a thing at the 255th pick.

They are betting Edwards proves the room right and everyone else wrong. The trades bled value they could not afford to lose.

The quarterback spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.

If Will Johnson and a couple of the gambles land, hindsight will be kinder than this grade.
