The Texans treated their own grade as gospel and everyone else's as noise, spending the 71st pick on Malik Washington a full 27 spots early. They moved the roster forward and banked a B for it.

That edge rusher hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. However the rest shakes out, Jones at that price is a win they earned. A modest surplus at the table, banked quietly.

Running back was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.

In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.
