Ward is the Giants' new face under center. Grade: A-. The Giants spent real capital to be 101 picks early on Willie Lampkin, and the board is going to hold them to it.
Phillips at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster. They have staked the next five years on Cam Ward, which is the only story that really matters here. Every deal seemed to tilt their way, which is not luck.
The Giants clearly valued win-now help, adding bodies who have done it before.
Bottom line, with Cam Ward leading the way, this is a class that should pay off fast and rarely be regretted.
