Draft Grade — Chargers
Overall B
ValueA- NeedB TradesA+ FutureD
Grand theft in the Round 6 slot: the Chargers steal Paul Jr. and grade out a B.

The best pick of the weekend was also the simplest. The Chargers watched Chris Paul Jr. slide 109 picks past his grade and did not hesitate.

They are betting Prather proves the room right and everyone else wrong. They robbed the room blind at the table, and it lifts the grade on its own. A whole weekend of picks and edge rusher is somehow still a want.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but edge rusher.

Pick Analysis
Pick39 Rnd2 Kenneth Grant
The board had Kenneth Grant higher than slot 39, and the interior defensive lineman fell to them anyway. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick41 Rnd2 Colston Loveland
Nice patience on Colston Loveland, who had no business lasting to the 41st overall pick. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick46 Rnd2 Malaki Starks
Malaki Starks in the Round 2 slot should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick55 Rnd2 Tyler Booker
A slide stopped in the 55th pick, with Tyler Booker worth more than the price. The roster fit checks out.
Pick123 Rnd4 Jake Majors
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Jake Majors at pick 123. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick157 Rnd5 Barrett Carter
A top-tier linebacker at a bargain, Barrett Carter in No. 157, plain and simple. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick179 Rnd6 Cam Skattebo
Cam Skattebo in pick No. 179 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick197 Rnd6 Chris Paul Jr.
A linebacker of that caliber at Round 6, Pick 22 is the definition of value, full stop. A luxury on a unit that was already in good shape.
Pick208 Rnd6 Jeffrey Bassa
Taking Jeffrey Bassa in pick 208 is close to grand larceny; a linebacker that good had no business lasting this long. A want dressed up as a pick, at a spot they had covered.
Pick213 Rnd6 Kaden Prather
They reached a country mile for Kaden Prather at the 213th pick, and the board is aghast. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick218 Rnd7 Sam Brown
No drama and no debate, Sam Brown went about where he belonged in pick No. 218. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick253 Rnd7 Kamren Fabiculanan
A premium they did not need to pay, Kamren Fabiculanan a notch or two before his time. It is more luxury than necessity; they were already set here.
