Draft Grade — Cowboys
Overall
D-
ValueB
NeedB

FutureC+
Quarterback settled, Sanders in the fold, and a D- for the Cowboys. Call it belief, call it a gut call, but Will Sheppard at slot 249 is 104 spots clear of consensus, and that is the headline.
That is a running back worth more than the slot they spent on him, plainly. The dealing is the wound this class cannot quite close.
They have staked the next five years on Shedeur Sanders, which is the only story that really matters here. That cornerback hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.
Bottom line, they will need several of these picks to beat their grades just to break even, and cornerback is still a hole.
Pick Analysis
Pick2
Rnd1
Shedeur Sanders
In pick 2 they get a franchise quarterback. A real need, handled.
Pick12
Rnd1
Ashton Jeanty
In pick No. 12 they get a workhorse for the backfield, and a steal at that. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick33
Rnd2
Tyler Warren
A tight end of that caliber at the 33rd overall pick is the definition of value, full stop. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick44
Rnd2
Nick Emmanwori
A top-tier safety at a bargain, Nick Emmanwori in the 44th pick, plain and simple. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick67
Rnd3
Alfred Collins
Value with a capital V on Alfred Collins in No. 67, a genuine coup. The roster fit checks out.
Pick76
Rnd3
Jihaad Campbell
Jihaad Campbell in the Round 3 slot is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick150
Rnd5
Jake Majors
They will replay Jake Majors at pick 150 for years; that is how good the value is. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick170
Rnd5
LaJohntay Wester
LaJohntay Wester in Round 5, Pick 31 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick172
Rnd5
Quinshon Judkins
Steal is underselling it; Quinshon Judkins at the 172nd overall pick is a heist with the alarm still ringing. It fills a real need, too.
Pick190
Rnd6
Hayden Conner
Hayden Conner in pick No. 190 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick211
Rnd6
Cam Jackson
A big swing on Cam Jackson at slot 211, well ahead of any board in the building. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick249
Rnd7
Will Sheppard
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Will Sheppard well ahead of where he belonged. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
