Draft Grade — Commanders
Overall B
ValueB NeedB TradesB+ FutureB
The steal of the weekend belongs to the Commanders and Vidal: B.

The Commanders did not reach, did not trade up, did not blink. They just waited, and Kimani Vidal fell into the Round 7 slot. The bottom line is a respectable B.

They will answer for taking TE-EDGE early while wide receiver went begging. They are betting Hartman proves the room right and everyone else wrong. The wide receiver hole is the one line item this class does not answer.

They squeezed a little extra out of every move they made.

A tidy weekend of work that should hold up just fine.

Pick Analysis
Pick4 Rnd1 Joe Alt
No edge and no loss on Joe Alt in pick 4; it is a wash and a sensible one. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick36 Rnd2 Tyler Nubin
A clean, defensible pick in pick No. 36 with a little surplus value in Tyler Nubin. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick40 Rnd2 Chop Robinson
Fair-plus on Chop Robinson, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick54 Rnd2 Jeremiah Trotter Jr.
Jeremiah Trotter Jr. at Round 2, Pick 22 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick67 Rnd3 Kingsley Suamataia
Kingsley Suamataia is a better player than the 67th overall pick suggests; smart patience, rewarded. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick97 Rnd3 Cade Stover
A surprising call. With wide receiver still to address, they spent No. 97 on Cade Stover, a TE-EDGE they were not short of.
Pick100 Rnd3 Khyree Jackson
Khyree Jackson at the 100th pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick102 Rnd4 Michael Hall Jr.
They let Michael Hall Jr. come to them and pounced at slot 102. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick137 Rnd5 Jaheim Bell
A market-rate tight end, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Jaheim Bell. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick141 Rnd5 Isaiah Adams
The board had Isaiah Adams higher than No. 141, and the offensive lineman fell to them anyway. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick172 Rnd5 Edefuan Ulofoshio
They read the board right and Edefuan Ulofoshio was the payoff at the 172nd pick. They added to a strength when a need was still open elsewhere.
Pick181 Rnd6 Sam Hartman
Value said wait; Sam Hartman in pick 181 says they were not listening. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick223 Rnd7 Kimani Vidal
The board fumbled Kimani Vidal all the way to pick No. 223, and they scooped it up. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
