Draft Grade — Panthers
Overall
B

TradesB-
FutureB-
The Panthers let Mbow fall and pounced. Final grade: B. You could see the war room lean forward. Marcus Mbow at No. 110 is the sort of fall that does not happen, except it just did. A sturdy weekend that grades out a B.
They punted on cornerback, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. Wide receiver was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the cornerback spot they never got to.
Pick Analysis
Pick8
Rnd1
Abdul Carter
In No. 8 they get a disruptor off the edge. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick57
Rnd2
Xavier Watts
They read the board right and Xavier Watts was the payoff at the 57th pick. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick74
Rnd3
Demetrius Knight Jr.
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Demetrius Knight Jr. at the Round 3 slot. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick110
Rnd4
Marcus Mbow
Marcus Mbow at pick 110 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. It fills a real need, too.
Pick113
Rnd4
Elic Ayomanor
They will replay Elic Ayomanor at the 113th overall pick for years; that is how good the value is. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
