FutureA+
The Commanders got the worse of every deal, and it shows in the C+. There was a run on nobody at that position, and the Commanders started one anyway for Ethan Downs, 40 picks ahead of schedule.
However the rest shakes out, Grant at that price is a win they earned. The dealing is the wound this class cannot quite close. For all the activity, wide receiver went untouched, which is hard to explain.
The hoard sets up next April more than it helps this September.
Not a disaster, not a triumph, just a middling class.
Pick Analysis
Pick119
Rnd4
Charles Grant
They barely believed it either: Charles Grant still on the board at slot 119. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick128
Rnd4
Jacob Parrish
A tidy bit of business in the Round 4 slot, where Jacob Parrish graded well above the range. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick205
Rnd6
CJ West
CJ West in the 205th pick should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick239
Rnd7
R.J. Mickens
They will replay R.J. Mickens at Round 7, Pick 23 for years; that is how good the value is. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick245
Rnd7
Ethan Downs
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Ethan Downs well ahead of where he belonged. The roster fit checks out.
