Draft Grade — Bears
Overall B
ValueB- NeedB- TradesA+ FutureB-
The Bears turned the phones into found money: B.

The Bears put a flag in the ground for Richard Jibunor, 95 picks before anyone else would have, and the value took the hit. Good, not great, and the B says as much.

Landing Thrash that late papers over a lot of smaller sins. Every deal seemed to tilt their way, which is not luck.

The Smith pick reads as want over need, and the roster will feel it at linebacker and quarterback. Leaving linebacker unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but linebacker.

Pick Analysis
Pick1 Rnd1 Marvin Harrison Jr.
A straight-up fair deal on Marvin Harrison Jr. at the 1st overall pick, value and slot in agreement. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick22 Rnd1 Dallas Turner
In pick No. 22 they get juice off the edge. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick34 Rnd2 Keon Coleman
A market-rate wide receiver, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Keon Coleman. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick66 Rnd3 Cooper DeJean
Cooper DeJean slipping to pick 66 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick68 Rnd3 Maason Smith
Hard to square with the roster. With positions of obvious need still on the board, Maason Smith adds a DT-EDGE and leaves linebacker and quarterback untouched.
Pick85 Rnd3 TreVeyon Henderson
TreVeyon Henderson in the Round 3 slot is exactly on the number, no argument either way. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick86 Rnd3 Graham Barton
Graham Barton in Round 3, Pick 23 is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick104 Rnd4 Tyleik Williams
They took Tyleik Williams at par in the 104th pick, which is nothing to complain about. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick132 Rnd4 Tyler Guyton
No edge and no loss on Tyler Guyton in pick 132; it is a wash and a sensible one. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick141 Rnd5 Bryce Foster
A big swing on Bryce Foster at No. 141, well ahead of any board in the building. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick182 Rnd6 Jamari Thrash
Jamari Thrash at pick No. 182 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. The roster fit checks out.
Pick200 Rnd6 Theo Johnson
They talked themselves into Theo Johnson at the 200th overall pick, and the board did not agree. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick225 Rnd7 Richard Jibunor
A wild overpay on Richard Jibunor in slot 225, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. It fits a board better than it fits this team.
