Draft Grade — Jets
Overall D-
ValueB NeedB TradesF FutureB-
The Jets cashed the board's mistake on Torrence: D-.

The best pick of the weekend was also the simplest. The Jets watched Ro Torrence slide 70 picks past his grade and did not hesitate. It grades a D-, and the process earned it.

The Milton III reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade. They handed away value on the phones that the picks cannot earn back. It is not that Smith is a bad player; it is that the Jets had louder needs to answer first.

The edge rusher spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.

Add it up and it is a weekend the front office will hope everyone forgets, edge rusher very much included.

Pick Analysis
Pick15 Rnd1 Taliese Fuaga
In slot 15 they get a building block for the line. A real need, handled.
Pick46 Rnd2 Brian Thomas Jr.
Somehow Brian Thomas Jr. was still sitting there in Round 2, Pick 14, and they pounced on premier wide receiver value. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick72 Rnd3 Ricky Pearsall
Ricky Pearsall at the 72nd overall pick is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick101 Rnd4 Dadrion Taylor-Demerson
The board had Dadrion Taylor-Demerson higher than No. 101, and the safety fell to them anyway. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick111 Rnd4 Leonard Taylor III
Leonard Taylor III at pick No. 111 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick117 Rnd4 Maason Smith
The eyebrow-raiser of the weekend. They went DT-EDGE with Maason Smith while clear needs at edge rusher and running back sat open.
Pick128 Rnd4 Ben Sinnott
They paid sticker price for Ben Sinnott in the 128th pick, and that is fine. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick135 Rnd4 Roger Rosengarten
Roger Rosengarten in the Round 4 slot is fair value, right on his grade. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick142 Rnd5 Beau Brade
Nice patience on Beau Brade, who had no business lasting to Round 5, Pick 6. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick144 Rnd5 Jaylin Simpson
Jaylin Simpson at pick No. 144 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick148 Rnd5 Trevor Keegan
Good price on Trevor Keegan in the Round 5 slot, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. The roster fit checks out.
Pick166 Rnd5 Joe Milton III
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Joe Milton III well ahead of where he belonged. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick185 Rnd6 Malik Mustapha
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Malik Mustapha at slot 185 is the proof. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick240 Rnd7 Cornelius Johnson
A top-tier wide receiver at a bargain, Cornelius Johnson in the 240th pick, plain and simple. It fills a real need, too.
Pick248 Rnd7 Ro Torrence
They robbed the room for Ro Torrence here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick257 Rnd7 Caedan Wallace
Caedan Wallace at No. 257 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
