Draft Grade — Browns
Overall D-
ValueC+ NeedB+ TradesF FutureD
Thomas should have been long gone. The Browns pounced, and earned a D-.

The trade table was where it all came apart. The Browns shipped out far more than they hauled back, and no amount of spin dresses up the bill. Too much went sideways, and the D- is the honest tally.

The Taylor reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade. That tight end hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. If one pick saves this weekend, it is Thomas.

It is a win-now wager, and the future is the stake.

In short, the board sent warnings, and they will be hoping it was wrong.

Pick Analysis
Pick6 Rnd1 Carnell Tate
They took Carnell Tate at par in slot 6, which is nothing to complain about. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick24 Rnd1 Akheem Mesidor
In Round 1, Pick 24 they get a bendy edge with upside, even if it was a touch early. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick39 Rnd2 Caleb Banks
Caleb Banks in the 39th pick is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick48 Rnd2 D'Angelo Ponds
No edge and no loss on D'Angelo Ponds in pick 48; it is a wash and a sensible one. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick70 Rnd3 Kamari Ramsey
No drama and no debate, Kamari Ramsey went about where he belonged in the Round 3 slot. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick79 Rnd3 Zachariah Branch
Taking Zachariah Branch in No. 79 is close to grand larceny; a wide receiver that good had no business lasting this long. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick107 Rnd4 Malik Muhammad
A tidy bit of business in the Round 4 slot, where Malik Muhammad graded well above the range. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick139 Rnd5 Drew Allar
Drew Allar at No. 139 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick144 Rnd5 Logan Jones
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Logan Jones in the 144th pick. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick147 Rnd5 J'Mari Taylor
They left a pile of value on the table to take J'Mari Taylor this early at Round 5, Pick 9. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick204 Rnd6 Jimmy Rolder
Jimmy Rolder at slot 204 jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick248 Rnd7 Trey Zuhn III
A market-rate offensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Trey Zuhn III. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick257 Rnd7 Zavion Thomas
Zavion Thomas in pick 257 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
