The Will Putnam selection is the head-turner. The Lions reached 94 spots for him, and it will define how this weekend is remembered.

Whatever else happened, they won the night they took McConkey. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped linebacker, which is a strange place to end up.

The roster is better shaped than it was, with cornerback chief among the fixes.

A tidy weekend of work that should hold up just fine.
