Draft Grade — Browns
Overall
B

FutureA
The Browns robbed the room for Smith. Final grade: B. The Browns spent the weekend waiting on one name, and it fell: Genesis Smith, the No. 107 name on the board, in No. 149. They moved the roster forward and banked a B for it.
They covered a lot of ground and still skipped quarterback, which is a strange place to end up. They gave back a little on the phones for the right to move.
Stockpiling next year's capital is patient, if unglamorous, asset work. Job largely done: wide receiver settled and 6 of 9 of the wish list covered.
Good work on the whole, with quarterback the one box left unchecked.
Pick Analysis
Pick18
Rnd1
Monroe Freeling
In pick 18 they get protection for the quarterback. A real need, handled.
Pick24
Rnd1
Olaivavega Ioane
In No. 24 they get a building block for the line at fair value. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick39
Rnd2
Kenyon Sadiq
Steal is underselling it; Kenyon Sadiq at Round 2, Pick 7 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick49
Rnd2
Chris Bell
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Chris Bell at slot 49. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick70
Rnd3
D'Angelo Ponds
Circle this one: D'Angelo Ponds at pick No. 70 is a fall that decides a draft. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick107
Rnd4
Malachi Fields
You do not let a wide receiver like Malachi Fields reach the Round 4 slot and blink. They did not. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick146
Rnd5
Trey Zuhn III
The board fumbled Trey Zuhn III all the way to the 146th pick, and they scooped it up. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick149
Rnd5
Genesis Smith
Genesis Smith at the 149th overall pick is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick206
Rnd6
Kaleb Elarms-Orr
They barely believed it either: Kaleb Elarms-Orr still on the board at the Round 6 slot. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick235
Rnd7
Brandon Cleveland
Fair-plus on Brandon Cleveland, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick248
Rnd7
Zavion Thomas
A tidy bit of business in the 248th overall pick, where Zavion Thomas graded well above the range. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
