Draft Grade — Lions
Overall C
ValueB NeedB TradesF FutureB-
The phones sank the Lions this weekend: C.

The phones were a trap the Lions kept walking into, shipping out surplus on nearly every deal.

The Jackson reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade. However the rest shakes out, Stockton at that price is a win they earned. A whole weekend of picks and edge rusher is somehow still a want.

On the needs board they went 7 of 9, with cornerback the one that mattered most.

If Jeremiyah Love and a couple of the gambles land, hindsight will be kinder than this grade.

Pick Analysis
Pick17 Rnd1 Jeremiyah Love
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Jeremiyah Love at No. 17. The roster fit checks out.
Pick50 Rnd2 Jake Slaughter
A straight-up fair deal on Jake Slaughter at the 50th overall pick, value and slot in agreement. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick112 Rnd4 D'Angelo Ponds
A tidy little value on D'Angelo Ponds in slot 112, a step better than break-even. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick118 Rnd4 Domani Jackson
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Domani Jackson. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick150 Rnd5 Jalen Stroman
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Jalen Stroman in the Round 5 slot. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick155 Rnd5 Davison Igbinosun
Nice patience on Davison Igbinosun, who had no business lasting to pick No. 155. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick186 Rnd6 Jaren Kanak
Jaren Kanak in Round 6, Pick 7 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick203 Rnd6 Brett Norfleet
They jumped the gun on Brett Norfleet, taking him earlier than his grade liked. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick212 Rnd6 PJ Williams
PJ Williams in pick No. 212 is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick215 Rnd6 Hykeem Williams
Hykeem Williams in No. 215 is fair value, right on his grade. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick222 Rnd7 Gunner Stockton
Gunner Stockton in the 222nd pick should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. It fills a real need, too.
