Draft Grade — Lions
Overall B
ValueC NeedB+ TradesA FutureB
A respectable, level-headed haul for the Lions: B.

The move everyone will second-guess came early. The Lions reached some 46 spots for Donovan Smith, and value like that does not grow back. More right than wrong, and a B to match.

A whole weekend of picks and running back is somehow still a want. On the needs board they went 7 of 9, with cornerback the one that mattered most.

The dealing nudged the ledger their way without much fuss. Darrell Baker Jr. gives the group a proven body among the projects.

Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.

Pick Analysis
Pick35 Rnd2 Landon Jackson
Landon Jackson in pick 35 is fair value, right on his grade. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick60 Rnd2 Donovan Jackson
By-the-book stuff, Donovan Jackson at pick No. 60 squarely in line with his ranking. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick102 Rnd3 Joshua Farmer
Joshua Farmer in No. 102 is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick103 Rnd4 Smael Mondon Jr.
The board had cheaper options than Smael Mondon Jr. at Round 4, Pick 1, and it noticed. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick120 Rnd4 Denzel Burke
A market-rate cornerback, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Denzel Burke. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick130 Rnd4 Pat Bryant
They reached into another round for Pat Bryant, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick132 Rnd4 Tyler Baron
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Tyler Baron. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick196 Rnd6 Jaylen Reed
Jaylen Reed at the 196th overall pick nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick206 Rnd6 Desmond Watson
A big swing on Desmond Watson at pick 206, well ahead of any board in the building. Nice player, but the depth chart did not need him here.
Pick228 Rnd7 Donovan Smith
Value said wait; Donovan Smith in Round 7, Pick 12 says they were not listening. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick244 Rnd7 Jermari Harris
Good price on Jermari Harris in slot 244, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
