Best value of the weekend goes to the Lions for Bassa: B. Somewhere a general manager is explaining how Jeffrey Bassa got past him. The Lions do not have to explain a thing at No. 227. A sturdy weekend that grades out a B.
If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through quarterback. They are betting Wilson proves the room right and everyone else wrong. Cornerback is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.
Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.
Pick Analysis
Pick31
Rnd1
Landon Jackson
In the 31st pick they get a bendy edge with upside. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick60
Rnd2
Tate Ratledge
A conviction pick on Tate Ratledge at pick 60 that the board grades a round light. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick95
Rnd3
Jared Wilson
A reach for Jared Wilson in No. 95; a little patience would have been rewarded. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick101
Rnd3
Deone Walker
They will replay Deone Walker at the 101st overall pick for years; that is how good the value is. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick133
Rnd4
Pat Bryant
They took Pat Bryant at par in the Round 4 slot, which is nothing to complain about. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick198
Rnd6
Dorian Strong
Dorian Strong in Round 6, Pick 20 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick227
Rnd7
Jeffrey Bassa
They barely believed it either: Jeffrey Bassa still on the board at slot 227. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick230
Rnd7
Jaylen Reed
Steal is underselling it; Jaylen Reed at pick No. 230 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick246
Rnd7
Ollie Gordon II
A top-tier running back at a bargain, Ollie Gordon II in Round 7, Pick 28, plain and simple. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
