Larceny in the Round 7 slot lands the Lions a B, Greenfield and all. The rest of the league will want that one back. Garret Greenfield tumbling to the Lions in pick 249 is a gift they did not have to think twice about. A dependable weekend that grades out a B.
They will need Hall to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped linebacker, which is a strange place to end up.
A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.
Pick Analysis
Pick29
Rnd1
Jackson Powers-Johnson
In the 29th overall pick they get a plug-and-play piece up front at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick61
Rnd2
T.J. Tampa
T.J. Tampa in pick 61 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick76
Rnd3
Marshawn Kneeland
They paid sticker price for Marshawn Kneeland in slot 76, and that is fine. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick121
Rnd4
Cole Bishop
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Cole Bishop at the Round 4 slot. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick164
Rnd5
Jared Wiley
A straight-up fair deal on Jared Wiley at Round 5, Pick 28, value and slot in agreement. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick201
Rnd6
Cornelius Johnson
Cornelius Johnson at pick No. 201 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick205
Rnd6
Gabe Hall
Gabe Hall at No. 205 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick249
Rnd7
Garret Greenfield
The board fumbled Garret Greenfield all the way to the 249th pick, and they scooped it up. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
