Draft Grade — Lions
Overall B
ValueB NeedB+ TradesB- FutureB-
The steal of the weekend belongs to the Lions and Hadden: B.

This is the pick they will still be bragging about in July: Kamal Hadden, the No. 140 name on the board, stolen at No. 167. A sturdy weekend that grades out a B.

If Jackson pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about. Leaving safety unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. The roster is better shaped than it was, with cornerback chief among the fixes.

The trenches got the money picks, top to bottom.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but safety.

Pick Analysis
Pick30 Rnd1 Jared Verse
They read the board right and Jared Verse was the payoff at the Round 1 slot. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick62 Rnd2 T'Vondre Sweat
T'Vondre Sweat at No. 62 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick73 Rnd3 Payton Wilson
They took Payton Wilson at par in the 73rd overall pick, which is nothing to complain about. The roster fit checks out.
Pick93 Rnd3 Khyree Jackson
They talked themselves into Khyree Jackson at pick No. 93, and the board did not agree. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick167 Rnd5 Kamal Hadden
The board fumbled Kamal Hadden all the way to pick 167, and they scooped it up. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick208 Rnd6 Ethan Driskell
They did well to land Ethan Driskell in the 208th pick, just ahead of his grade. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick251 Rnd7 Trevor Keegan
Trevor Keegan in Round 7, Pick 31 is fair value, right on his grade. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
