FutureC-
Rourke should have been long gone. The Lions pounced, and earned a B. You could see the war room lean forward. Kurtis Rourke at the 196th pick is the sort of fall that does not happen, except it just did.
The phones were where this weekend was really won. A whole weekend of picks and cornerback is somehow still a want.
The Jon Runyan deal gives the class an established piece to lean on. The trenches got the money picks, top to bottom.
Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.
Pick Analysis
Pick34
Rnd2
Derrick Harmon
Derrick Harmon at the 34th pick is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the interior defensive lineman. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick43
Rnd2
JT Tuimoloau
JT Tuimoloau at Round 2, Pick 11 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick60
Rnd2
Donovan Ezeiruaku
A market-rate edge rusher, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Donovan Ezeiruaku. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick99
Rnd3
Jared Wilson
Jared Wilson in No. 99 is fair value, right on his grade. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick134
Rnd4
Malachi Moore
The board fumbled Malachi Moore all the way to slot 134, and they scooped it up. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick138
Rnd4
Mitchell Evans
No edge and no loss on Mitchell Evans in pick No. 138; it is a wash and a sensible one. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick196
Rnd6
Kurtis Rourke
Steal is underselling it; Kurtis Rourke at pick 196 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick225
Rnd7
Trevor Etienne
A tidy little value on Trevor Etienne in the Round 7 slot, a step better than break-even. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick228
Rnd7
Isaac TeSlaa
Isaac TeSlaa at Round 7, Pick 12 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick244
Rnd7
Kyle Williams
Kyle Williams in slot 244 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
