Best value of the weekend goes to the Lions for Reed: B-.

Call it larceny. Jaylen Reed sat on the board until slot 227, and the Lions did not need to be asked twice.

The quarterback spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. Reaching for Ivey left real value on the table behind him. Cornerback was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.

Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.

Pick Analysis
Pick28 Rnd1 Kenneth Grant
In the 28th overall pick they get a wrecking ball inside. Need was not the driver here.
Pick60 Rnd2 Jared Ivey
Jared Ivey at slot 60 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick101 Rnd3 Jake Majors
No drama and no debate, Jake Majors went about where he belonged in Round 3, Pick 37. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick133 Rnd4 Jaylin Noel
Somehow Jaylin Noel was still sitting there in the Round 4 slot, and they pounced on premier wide receiver value. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick198 Rnd6 Jay Higgins
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Jay Higgins at pick 198 is the proof. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick227 Rnd7 Jaylen Reed
You do not let a safety like Jaylen Reed reach No. 227 and blink. They did not. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick230 Rnd7 Cody Lindenberg
A reach for Cody Lindenberg in the 230th pick; a little patience would have been rewarded. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick246 Rnd7 Brandon Adams
By-the-book stuff, Brandon Adams at pick No. 246 squarely in line with his ranking. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
