The Lions got the worse of every deal, and it shows in the C. The tape said wait; the Lions did not. Shaun Dolac went at Round 7, Pick 28, a good 95 picks before the board was ready.
Getting Emmanwori where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class. They lost the exchange badly enough to drag the whole class down.
A whole weekend of picks and cornerback is somehow still a want. Offensive lineman was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.
A perfectly average weekend, for better and for worse.
Pick Analysis
Pick28
Rnd1
Walter Nolen
In the Round 1 slot they get a pocket-collapsing interior rusher, and a steal at that. More want than need.
Pick60
Rnd2
Nick Emmanwori
Nick Emmanwori in pick 60 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick68
Rnd3
Donovan Jackson
Donovan Jackson at slot 68 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick102
Rnd3
Terrance Ferguson
They went early on Terrance Ferguson in the 102nd pick, and the value did not follow. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick130
Rnd4
Jake Majors
Jake Majors at Round 4, Pick 28 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick143
Rnd5
Elijah Roberts
This one needs a full-page explanation: Elijah Roberts in No. 143, miles early. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick196
Rnd6
Donovan Edwards
No drama and no debate, Donovan Edwards went about where he belonged in Round 6, Pick 20. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick215
Rnd6
Isaac TeSlaa
Isaac TeSlaa at No. 215 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick228
Rnd7
Elijhah Badger
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Elijhah Badger well ahead of where he belonged. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick244
Rnd7
Shaun Dolac
Shaun Dolac at pick 244 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
