The Lions let Driskell fall into their laps, and walked away with a B. When a board-topper like Ethan Driskell slides to pick 208, you do not overthink it, and the Lions did not.
A whole weekend of picks and linebacker is somehow still a want. They left with cornerback solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.
The back end got a real overhaul.
Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.
Pick Analysis
Pick30
Rnd1
Kamari Lassiter
In the Round 1 slot they get a ballhawk on the outside. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick62
Rnd2
Brandon Dorlus
Brandon Dorlus in pick No. 62 lands just on the right side of the ledger. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick73
Rnd3
Ricky Pearsall
They paid sticker price for Ricky Pearsall in the 73rd pick, and that is fine. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick93
Rnd3
McKinnley Jackson
Fair-plus on McKinnley Jackson, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick167
Rnd5
Jaylin Simpson
Jaylin Simpson at the 167th overall pick is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick208
Rnd6
Ethan Driskell
Somehow Ethan Driskell was still sitting there in slot 208, and they pounced on premier offensive lineman value. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick251
Rnd7
Ja'Had Carter
A tidy bit of business in pick 251, where Ja'Had Carter graded well above the range. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
